Irish Pavilion for Expo 2015 - Milan, ITA
The Pavilion was designed by the Irish Office of Public Works together with Atelier Elizabeth Francis to represent the cultural heritage of Ireland at the 2015 World Expo. The Pavilion was composed of two separate rectangular volumes, each consisting of three stories, and featured a curved wall made of horizontal wooden fins placed at variable distances. The wall delineated the exhibition area and provided sun shading. Events were hosted in the hanging garden on the rooftop. Low energy consumption was achieved through the use of LED lighting and solar panels. Designed with recyclable and reusable materials, the building was dismantled at the end of the exhibition without generating any waste.
