Garage Italia Customs - Milan, ITA

A gas station from the 1950s to 1980, the building was designed with a futuristic shape that recalls a spaceship. Recently purchased by Lapo Elkann, a businessman who is part of the family that owns the FCA automotive group, the building now hosts a car customization workshop on the lower level and a Michelin-starred restaurant on the upper level. Due to its past use, the renovation project required substantial soil remediation and an environmental assessment. The original concrete structure was reinforced and upgraded to the latest seismic standards; however, the original shape of the building and the exterior envelope finishes were meticulously restored to maintain a 1950s vibe. The restaurant's privée was created in partnership with the famous luxury brand Riva Yacht.
